Colts Cricket (Barnes "Young Pheasants") 8 of 12

8. Equipment

FOR PLAYERS UP-TO AND INCLUDING YEAR 4

Training is conducted with soft balls, and so no specialist kit is required.

A personal cricket bat is useful, but not essential. Otherwise, just comfortable sports gear and some energy is all you need!

FOR HARD BALL PLAYERS (Year 5 and above)

  • Appropriate footwear is required (trainers or cricket boots for grass pitches).
  • Spiked footwear is NOT permitted in Barnes cricket nets.
  • When playing with a hard cricket ball, a box (abdominal protector) should be worn when batting or wicketkeeping.

For hygiene reasons we recommend that each child should use their own box.
Protection is only afforded by the box if the player is also wearing suitable underwear.
Boxer shorts are not suitable in this respect as they do not retain the box appropriately.
Parents / guardians must ensure that suitable underwear is worn otherwise the child will be unable to participate in activities with a hard ball.

Here is what you need… HELMET, GLOVES, THIGH PAD, “BOX” & LEG PADS.

Junior Playing Shirts can be purchased via Club Shop

Other playing kit can be purchased from Masuri Teamwear
